This 2-year-old who needs a new heart ran across the marathon finish line with his dad

Wearing sunglasses and a Red Sox cap, 2-year-old Jack Middlemiss dashed across the finish line of the Boston Marathon Monday with his father, Scott.

Middlemiss ran the 2016 marathon for Jack, who has been diagnosed with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy and needs a heart transplant, and his oldest son, Joseph, who died from the same condition in 2013 at the age of 6, according to WBZ.
“The first 26.0 miles were kind of bad yesterday, but that last 0.2 with him with me, it was magical and it kind of takes away the pain,” Scott Middlemiss said in an interview with WBZ Tuesday.
Middlemiss ran for the foundation he and his wife Kate started honoring Joseph’s memory.
“When you see this little boy who will never be able to run a marathon or any competitive races to see him cross the finish symbolizes what he goes through with a smile on his face,” Kate told WBZ.
