Security Officials Ready for Start of 2014 Boston Marathon

On the morning of the marathon, security officials gathered for last-minute briefings and final preparations.

Some of the spectators who were out early spoke to Boston.com’s Steve Safran. Most of them understood that the security would cause delays, but appreciated that it was necessary.
“It’s high-security, but I think it’s really good. It’s really safe,’’ Rebecca France of Milford told Safran. “It reminds me of what happened. But it’s okay.’’
“I think the security is a necessary evil, but is not that intrusive,’’ said Brenda Coutinho, a Hopkinton resident.
