Charles Bassey’s time with the Celtics appears to have gotten a little bit longer.
According to The Boston Globe’s Adam Himmelsbach, Boston is signing the 6-foot-10, 230-pound center to a second 10-day contract.
Bassey has played in two games for the Celtics this season. He played two minutes in the Celtics’ loss to Minnesota last Sunday, and two minutes in the team’s win against Golden State on March 18th.
The Celtics are the third NBA team that Bassey has suited up for this season. He played two games with the Grizzlies and one game with the 76ers. The 2021 second-round pick also had a three-year stint with the Spurs earlier in his career.
Bassey was on the Celtics’ summer league roster this past July. He posted a pair of double-doubles, including a 23-point, 13-rebound effort against the Knicks.
Bassey averaged 20.3 points and 10.9 rebounds in 46 career G-League games. He spent time with the Santa Cruz Warriors and Delaware Blue Coats last season.
According to a league source, the Celtics are signing Charles Bassey to a second 10-day contract today.

With Nikola Vucevic out due to a fracture in his ring finger, the Celtics are keeping Bassey around to boost their front-court bench depth in the short term.
Neemias Queta has emerged as the Celtics’ starting center with Luka Garza as a reserve at that spot. Rookie Amari Williams has split time between Boston and Maine this season, playing in 19 games for the Celtics and 18 games for the G-League affiliate Maine Celtics.
Bassey’s contract will end during the first week of April. The regular-season runs through April 12th, when the Celtics host Orlando at TD Garden for the finale.
