Longtime TV personality and scientific educator Bill Nye received his own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame on Monday afternoon.
And as part of the festivities, “The Science Guy” also received a tribute from Celtics star Jaylen Brown.
Brown — who has praised Nye’s role in making “learning fun” for him and many other children over the years — was a guest during Nye’s ceremony, delivering a speech that highlighted Nye’s contributions in education.
“My love for science runs deep, and I have Bill to thank for that,” Brown said. “But not just for myself — for a generation of students who grew up in the public school system, possibly thinking that school was not for them. Bill was the bright spot in all of our day. When they rolled that TV out with the trolley, we knew what time it was.
“But Bill did not just teach science. He taught a generation of students of all walks of life to explore, to discover, to create, and also to ask questions.”
Brown — who posted on X about his desire to meet Nye in person in November 2024 — finally got the opportunity in Washington DC just a few weeks later after the Celtics defeated the Wizards at Capital One Arena.

“Bill Nye the Science Guy” won 19 Emmy awards during its run from September 1993 to February 1999, inspiring Brown and an entire generation of students along the way.
“So, Bill, this Walk of Fame is not just for an incredible career. It’s also for the curiosity you spark, the doors you’ve opened, and the minds you continue to inspire all over the globe,” Brown said in his address to Nye on Monday. “This Walk of Fame is more than deserving.
“Thank you from a generation of students who grew up watching you, listening to your voice. Thank you for changing the world, one dad joke and one science experiment at a time. Give it up for Bill.”
What a great tribute for Bill Nye. 🙌
