After reportedly playing the last few months of the Celtics‘ season on a partially torn right meniscus, Jaylen Brown recently underwent a procedure to address the injury.
According to a brief Celtics announcement on Wednesday, the 28-year-old Brown “today underwent a successful right knee arthroscopic debridement procedure.”
The Celtics update added that his return timeline is favorable.
“He is expected to participate in training camp without limitation,” the team said in its statement.
Brown, the 2024 NBA Finals MVP, started to appear on the team’s injury report in February. And according to a report from ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne following the Celtics’ playoff elimination in May, Brown played the rest of the season on a partially torn right meniscus.
While Brown’s playoff stats were actually comparable to his numbers from the team’s title run the year before, he was unable to help Boston avoid a second-round playoff defeat to the Knicks. On top of his injury, the Celtics dealt with the lingering effects of Kristaps Porzingis’s mysterious illness. And in Game 4 of the series vs. New York, Jayson Tatum suffered a ruptured right Achilles, requiring surgery.
A former third overall pick, Brown is currently heading into the second year of a five-year, $304 million super-max extension he signed with the Celtics on July, 2023.
