More with the Celtics
Maine Celtics guard JD Davison was named G League MVP on Wednesday, the second player to win the award for Boston’s affiliate team.
Davison, on a two-way contract with Boston, averaged 25.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.5 steals per game as Maine finished 21-13, just a game back of the best record in the G League.
“His hard work and team-first attitude from day one with both the Boston and Maine Celtics have led to this achievement,” said Celtics president of basketball operations Brad Stevens. “JD has embraced the idea of continuously improving, and we are thrilled for him.”
A second-round pick of the Celtics in 2022, Davison has had little opportunity to see the floor with the big-league club, logging just 156 minutes over three seasons.
Maine is taking on the Westchester Knicks in the second round of the G League playoffs, with a single-elimination contest in New York on Thursday.
