Celtics reportedly sign Brewster Academy alum Miles Norris to two-way contract
Norris spent his senior season at Brewster Academy before enrolling at Oregon where he was briefly teammates with Payton Pritchard.
Hours after they announced that they were waiving rookie two-way forward Anton Watson, the Celtics have signed forward Miles Norris to a two-way contract according to ESPN’s Shams Charania.
The 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 1.5 assists for the G-League’s Memphis Hustle this season.
After spending the bulk of his high school career in California, Norris transferred to New Hampshire’s Brewster Academy for his senior season. Brewster won the Class AAA NEPSAC regular-season title that year.
A former four-star recruit, Norris was the No. 69 ranked prospect in the nation in the Class of 2018 according to 247 Sports. He signed with Oregon, where he was briefly teammates with Celtics guard Payton Prichard. Norris’s mother was a three-year letter winner in basketball at Oregon, according to his bio on the UC Santa Barbara website.
Norris transferred to City College of San Francisco after one season with the Ducks. He finished his college career at UC Santa Barbara, where he averaged 11.5 points and 6.1 rebounds per game over three seasons.
Norris signed a two-way deal with the Hawks in 2023 after going undrafted. He averaged 12.7 points in 29 games with Atlanta G-League affiliate College Park last season. He spent time with Turkish club Çağdaş Bodrumspor before signing with Memphis.
Norris has shown ability to score the ball from beyond the arc; he is a career 39 percent 3-point shooter in the G-League. He is averaging 9.1 3-point attempts per game this season and averaging 13.3 field-goal attempts overall. He is also an 81 percent free-throw shooter.
Norris graduated cum laude from Brewster Academy.
Other Brewster Academy alumni in the NBA include Cleveland Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell, Bulls forward Matas Buzelis, Knicks forward TJ Warren, and Clippers center Kai Jones.
