Jayson Tatum did it again.

The Celtics superstar came through in the clutch, delivering Boston a 118-116 win over the Pelicans via a midrange jumper just before the horn sounded. Tatum left virtually no time on the clock, drilling the go-ahead basket with just 0.2 seconds remaining, sending the Celtics home with a hard-fought win.

Watch the play unfold:

Tatum is now 3 of 6 this season on shots to take the lead or tie in the final five seconds of regulation and overtime. That’s tied for the most with Tyler Herro (3 of 8). Tatum also leads all NBA players in go-ahead shots in the final five seconds since 2020.

Those moments always seem to wind up in the trusted hands of Tatum, who has frequently delivered in the clutch over the course of his career.

“Big-time players make big-time plays. That was a big play by JT,” Jaylen Brown said in his postgame interview.

Tatum finished with 27 points, 10 assists, and six rebounds in the win. Brown scored a team-high 28 and added six rebounds and four assists.

On the third anniversary of Brown announcing that “the energy is about to shift,” Boston looks to be shifting back towards its DNA of winning basketball. The Celtics have won three of their last four games heading into a Sunday evening matchup against the 76ers.
