Jaylen Brown dazzles with new 741 colorway despite disappointing loss to 76ers

Basketball and fashion came together for the holidays: Brown expanded his palette and the Celtics wore holiday-inspired gear.

Did you know that 741, the athleisure and performance clothing line from Jaylen Brown, comes in multiple colors? If you missed the posts on social media, I’m here to alert you to the latest colorway. Fans, spectators, fashionistas, and shoppers rejoice: 741 goes beyond black and gold.

For the annual Christmas game (against the fractured but perhaps healing 76ers in the day’s key matchup), Brown gave fans a break from all the black.

This is not an ad, but it is an alert for basketball lovers who like to wear fancy athleisure — or maybe didn’t get what they wanted under the Christmas tree and will be shopping for something new.

Walking the “JetBlue Runway” Wednesday night, Brown modeled more 741, wearing head-to-toe gray with a metallic accents fit for any winter holiday — silver, symbolizing a menorah; gold, like the chocolate coins gifted during Hanukkah; or less sacredly, common décor like tinsel and tree ornaments.

Front and center of Brown’s look: The moon design — an oblong orb that makes his brand immediately recognizable — stamped on the chest of his hoodie. This time, instead of the copper against black we’ve seen, the signature shape appeared in a powdery iridescent blue, framed by a similarly soft gray.

So, we now have blue and gray, as well as gold and gray, which we saw on the parquet during the game that ended in a loss against a fully-staffed Sixers team, 118-114.

While Brown wore gray, Porzingis took up the mantle with a sleek all-black slacks-and-a-sweater outfit. On the rest of the team, understated neutrals and a couple of suits rounded out the looks.

On the court, Brown, along with Derrick White and Jayson Tatum and other starters, embraced the spirit with an array of red accessories: compression tights, arm bands, and socks … a bright cherry red — the 2025 color trend that gained steam in 2024 and likely developed from the popularity of burgundy in fall 2023.

Speaking of burgundy, other outfits of the day:

  • A classy burgundy sweater under a sports jacket with traditional plaid worn by Brian Scalabrine.
  • A bright, festive “ugly” Christmas sweater with the requisite animal worn by Eddie House.
  • Another plaid jacket in a more on-the-nose holiday red and green on Chris Forsberg.
  • A standout moment from Tom Giles, in magenta — a unique, modern take on the traditional Christmas red.

Festive tones were all over this Christmas Day game, on screen, on the court, and in the tunnel, which Brown reminded us isn’t just a hallway — it’s a runway.
