The Celtics extended their winning streak with a 94-126 win over the Clippers — their largest margin of victory this season. Jaylen Brown continued his streak, too, Monday night — from his swag and drip to music, headlines, accolades, events, and that cover.
Coming off a summer of “squabbling up,” it’s now “cozy season,” and Brown has been settling into a successful season statistically. His on-court game filled the stat sheet with 17 points, a little slow to start but steady by the end. His off-court game scored points, too — style points.
Brown made brown his focal point on the “JetBlue Runway,” spotted in a lightweight, knee-length hooded statement jacket, studded with silver hardware, that flowed like a fountain of chocolate — a classic, true brown.
Underneath the coat, a simple sweater in a darker shade of brown. Slacks and shoes with lug soles completed the look, grounding it in Brown’s signature black.

Chocolate brown is fashionable right now. As noted in an October 2024 color trend report in Harper’s Bazaar, “The beauty in the chocolate brown trend lies in its versatility. It’s essentially a neutral that can be swapped in for black, gray, or white.”
While technically neutral, black-and-brown traditionally isn’t a recommended pairing. It’s one of those fashion myths of yore: You don’t mix black and brown because they don’t go together, the same way you don’t wear black and navy. This lore seems just as ubiquitous as the ‘no white after Labor Day’ rule.
But rules bend and generational fashion norms evolve. While old thinking forbids the pairing, newer schools of thought suggest that a black-and-brown pairing oozes sophistication and opulence, much like a luxurious selection of Godiva or other premium chocolates.
Black and brown might not be conventional, but brown can elevate a look into quiet luxury, which Brown did well. There was no obvious label, pattern, or designer on his outfit, giving his 741 shoe the limelight, which he carried in hand, reminiscent of LeBron’s iconic image boldly holding a glass of red wine.
Brown showed the power of black and brown together, and also how well it goes with the latest design from his sneaker and performance clothing line dotingly on display all season.
While Brown treated spectators to a milk chocolate brown jacket and a dark chocolate brown sweater wrapped in black, fans enjoyed another treat: seeing “Cookies & Cream” reunited — the endearing nickname for the bromance between Brown and Kristaps Porzingis.

Normally in a sport coat and dress pants, Porzingis made his way back to the court in a silky button-up shirt, basic tee, casual pants, all black except for the white trim on his footwear, mirroring the black and white trim on Brown’s new showing from the 741 performance wear family.
“Gotta be playing better in the 741s,” Celtics play-by-play announcer Drew Carter joked towards the end of the third quarter after a Peyton Pritchard 6-in-9 moment. Pritchard was spotted wearing Brown’s signature shoe during the second half. Celtics analyst Brian Scalabrine suggested, “Maybe something about numerology.”
By the end of the night, Brown scored major style points, and the Celtics secured a decisive 32-point victory over the Clippers.
