Jayson Tatum sports clean aesthetic pregame outfit with a gentle, neutral colorway
Tatum rocked his signature shoes, the Jordan Tatum 3, in Friday's win, debuting a new colorway of the sneakers.
Jayson Tatum, fresh from a loss Wednesday night to the Golden State Warriors — what many dubbed “a revenge game” — said, “I’m always going to do whatever the [expletive] I want to do,” responding to a post-game gaggle question from The Boston Globe’s Gary Washburn.
And do that he did last night, helping lead the team to a bounce-back nail-biter overtime win, beating the Brooklyn Nets, 108-104.
Shaky at first — with the Celtics calling an early timeout two minutes in, fumbling several missed blocks and picking up a handful of turnovers — Tatum ultimately delivered, scoring 33 points with the Celtics netting out the win.
“Tatum’s presence can shake guys,” Celtics analyst Brian Scalabrine said right before Tatum’s first time at the line after an initial 8-0 personal run.
Tatum brought his signature “IDGAF” energy from Wednesday night into Friday, which was much needed with both Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis remaining out of the game and Luke Kornet on the injury list due to a hamstring issue.
That confidence and energy were on display even before tip-off, when Tatum took to the “JetBlue Runway,” rocking a clean aesthetic outfit, strutting a palette of classic neutral tones.
Deuce Tatum, always stylish at courtside and sometimes matching his dad, also showed up in head-to-toe neutrals: a cream-colored, almost white, matching set of sweatpants and hoodie.
Perhaps they coordinated outfits to complement (and promote) the launch of Tatum’s third signature sneaker, Jordan Tatum 3, complete with Deuce’s name signed on the side of the sole.
His latest sneaker, worn at the Paris Olympics, comes in a variety of colorways, including Zen, a neutral scheme that features grays, sages, and other lightly saturated hues.
“For me, the Tatum 3 represents the evolution of [where] I’m at in my career, learning from the previous years, things I want to change or get better at … adapting to what’s new in the world,” Tatum shared in a video interview with B/R Kicks, unboxing and unveiling his Tatum 3 line.

He audibly lit up when he got to Zen. “Last, but very not least, Zen. I feel like you have shoes that are louder and pop more, and these are just a lot more soothing and relaxed, and these are definitely ones I may throw a fit on with or wear ‘lifestyle’ to the game or outside of the court,” Tatum said.
According to the description on the Nike website, “Calm under pressure. That’s Jayson in a nutshell. Sure, he hears the back and forth, but he doesn’t let the pressure get to him. This Tatum 3 is all about that balance. Soothing shades of gray mix with just the right amount of energizing color.” The Jordan Tatum 3 Zen will release on Nov. 14, according to this Hypebeast listing.
Despite needing five extra minutes because of that missed step-back 3, Friday night was good for Tatum. His kick game, ball game, and drip game all aligned.
What will Tatum wear next time they play at home? We’ll find out Nov. 12 when the Celtics meet the Atlanta Hawks for their first matchup of the Emirates NBA Cup 2024, tipping off at 7 p.m. at TD Garden.
