At TD Garden, Steve Kerr offers a scathing critique of President-elect Trump’s voter fraud claims
Kerr wished the President-elect the best during his time in office. Then, the Warriors coach turned to sarcasm.
Warriors coach Steve Kerr ended his press conference with a joke Wednesday evening. He was asked if he addressed his team about the results of Tuesday’s presidential election.
“I just told them in our meeting this morning, let’s make America great again and beat the Celtics,” said Kerr.
Kerr banged the table as he delivered the wisecrack before leaving the room.
He struck a more serious tone with his comments on his personal feelings about the election, saying he accepts the results and hopes President-elect Donald Trump performs well during his time in office.
“I believe in democracy and I think the American people have spoken,” Kerr said. “They voted for Trump and I want him to do well the next four years.”
Vice President Kamala Harris made a concession speech Wednesday evening.
Trump did not make a concession speech four years ago when Joe Biden won. Instead, he insisted that the 2020 election was stolen.
Kerr offered a sarcastic critique of the president-elect’s decision not to concede when he lost the 2020 election.
“I’m just thankful there wasn’t any voting fraud this time,” Kerr said. “Last time all those illegal immigrants who crossed the border, raped and murdered people, and then voted six times, that was unfortunate.
“But thankfully this time everything was clean. It’s great that every election has been really valid except that last one four years ago. Twinkle in my eye as I say that, in case you didn’t see it.”
Kerr reiterated his comments about accepting the results and wanting the best for the country no matter who is the Oval Office.
“I believe in democracy. I believe in the will of the people,” Kerr said. “I will do everything I can to support my country and our government. I want nothing but the best for us. Its a complex world “
“There’s a lot of stuff — between wars abroad, global economy that has shifted everything, in terms of what it means for our citizens and their day-to-day lives,” Kerr added. “I’m well aware that I live in a bubble and I’m one of the luckiest people on earth. So, I want the best for us. I hope President Trump can deliver that.”
