Here’s a look at the Celtics’ NBA Cup court floor
The Celtics have a new-look floor for the upcoming NBA Cup
The Celtics revealed the design for their NBA Cup court design for TD Garden on Thursday.
The floor has a green base with black trim along the baselines and a gold trophies at mid-court and in the paint on both ends of the floor.
The Celtics’ team name is painted in green against the black baseline background, along with Bill Russell’s No. 6. Red Auerbach’s signature is just above the No. 6 along the halfcourt line.
The floor is a lighter shade of green than last year’s court, and the gold stripe running across the court has been removed.
Formerly known as the “In-Season Tournament”, the Emirates NBA Cup is an annual competition among the NBA’s 30 teams that begins with group stage play and progresses to an eight-team knockout round before culminating in a neutral-site semifinal and championship round at T-Mobile arena in Las Vegas.
The Celtics were the top seed coming out of Group C last season with a 3-1 record in group stage play. They were knocked out during the quarterfinals with a loss to the Pacers in Indiana.
The Pacers beat the Bucks in the semifinals before falling to the Lakers in the championship round. LeBron James was named MVP.
“I love it. In Europe, we always have some sort of tournament in preseason or during the year,” Celtics center Kristaps Porzingis said last year. “When I was growing up, I always enjoyed those kind of tournaments. It kind of just put more of a spotlight on something that’s midseason and stuff like that.”
