"For us to be able to come out with a win against Dallas is huge for me, but even bigger for the organization."

Celtics rookie Jordan Walsh is not only getting to experience the NBA Finals in his first season, but also what it’s like to face his hometown team for a championship.

Walsh is a native of Dallas, Texas, and the Celtics are set to tip off Game 1 against the Mavericks Thursday night at TD Garden.

“It’s been amazing, unexpected to me,” Walsh said, per Brad Townsend of the Dallas Morning News. “I had no expectation of what it would look like or how the season would go. I knew the Celtics were like a really good team, but I didn’t know how good or how far we would go. I definitely didn’t expect the Mavs to be at the end of that road.”

“So, for that to line up like that is really cool to see,” Walsh said. “Obviously, the Celtics have a lot of history and high expectations for this series. For us to be able to come out with a win against Dallas is huge for me, but even bigger for the organization.”

Walsh said he has some local food recommendations in mind for when the series shifts to Dallas for Games 3 and 4.

“There’s a couple spots, a couple of hidden gems,” Walsh said. “I wouldn’t want to tell everybody because I want it to still be quiet when I go. I’ll share some knowledge with them, but they’ve been there a lot so they probably know some spots. But, whenever I can help out, I’ll give them a couple gems for sure.”
