Oshae Brissett warns Miami Heat fans after ‘We want Boston’ chants

"All I’m going to say is, see you guys on Sunday at 1. Keep chanting, ‘We want Celtics.'"

Miami Heat fans sent a clear message from Kaseya Center last week during the NBA play-in tournament.

With the Heat putting the final stamp on a blowout win over the Chicago Bulls, their fans set their sights on a first-round matchup with the Celtics — with cheers of “We Want Boston!” erupting from Miami’s arena.

Even without Jimmy Butler and Terry Rozier, it should come as little surprise that the Heat would want to welcome a playoff rematch against Boston — especially after eighth-seeded Miami held on to beat the Celtics in seven games during the 2023 Eastern Conference finals.

But in a video posted from his official YouTube channel on Saturday, Celtics reserve forward Oshae Brissett warned Heat fans to be careful what they wish for.

“I’m hearing some crazy chants in there, talking about some ‘We want Celtics,’” Brissett said via his YouTube channel. “I have never been one to talk prematurely. Because bad takes are a thing. And a lot of ESPN analysts and people, NBA players who have podcasts, are kings of bad takes. Oshae Brissett is not one of them.”

“So all I’m going to say is, see you guys on Sunday at 1. Keep chanting, ‘We want Celtics.’ We’ll continue this conversation after the first round.”

Even though Brissett did not play during Sunday’s Game 1, the top-seeded Celtics took care of business on the parquet floor — beating the Heat, 114-94.

The Celtics have long held court as the favorites to come out of the Eastern Conference during this postseason, with the Heat’s hopes of reeling off an upset further hindered by the questions surrounding Butler and Rozier’s health.

Bam Adebayo was the lone Miami player to surpass 20 points in Game 1, while Caleb Martin — who torched the Celtics from beyond the arc last postseason — only scored four points and missed all four of his 3-point attempts.
