These two Celtics will reportedly be included on Team USA’s 2024 Olympics roster

Celtics fans will reportedly have some familiar faces to cheer on when Team USA takes to the court during the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris.

ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski reported on Monday that USA Basketball has already decided on 11 players for its 12-man roster during the upcoming Summer Games — with Celtics teammates Jayson Tatum and Jrue Holiday making the cut.

Here are the 11 players who reportedly have earned a spot for Team USA:

Team USA will try to take home its fifth straight Olympic gold medal this summer, with Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr at the helm of the program.

Both Tatum and Holiday won a gold medal with Team USA at the 2020 Summer Olympics — held a year later in Japan due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Tatum has once again put together an impressive season for the top-seeded Celtics in 2023-24. The 26-year-old forward averaged 26.9 points, 8.1 rebounds, and 4.9 assists per game while shooting 47.1 percent from the field.

Even though Holiday’s scoring (12.5 points per game) has dipped so far in his first season with Boston, his defensive capabilities, 3-point shooting, playmaking poise, and winning resume likely factored into Team USA’s reported decision to bring the veteran point guard back.

There is still one roster spot available for Team USA, with Kerr and his staff having no shortage of appealing options to turn to. Two other Celtics were part of the initial pool of 41 players that Team USA considered for roster spots in Jaylen Brown and Derrick White.
