The Celtics may be beginning to give their starters extra rest with less than 20 regular season games left.

Ahead of Boston’s game against the 11-55 Washington Wizards on Sunday, the team announced its injury report — and it was a bit lengthy, featuring notable players.

Kristaps Porzingis is set to miss his fifth consecutive game due to a right hamstring strain. Head coach Joe Mazzulla gave a promising update regarding Porzingis’s health on Thursday, but the center will miss at least one more game before returning. The team is assumedly giving Porzingis as much time as possible to rest and recover as the regular season winds down.

The Celtics have won every game in his absence, so there’s no question that players have and will continue to step up.

Al Horford and Luke Kornet have started at center for Boston with Porzingis out, as has typically been the case all season if Porzingis is unavailable.

Boston also ruled Derrick White out for Sunday’s game because of a left hand sprain. White has appeared on the Celtics’ last three injury reports with a hand ailment, but this is the first game he won’t play in because of it. Perhaps Mazzulla is giving White an extra day off, just like Porzingis, especially because they’re set to play the worst team in the NBA on Sunday.

With White out for the first time in two months, expect Jrue Holiday or Payton Pritchard to step up and take his minutes.

Also listed on the Celtics’ injury report are Jaylen Brown (right ankle sprain) and Jayson Tatum (right ankle impingement). Both are questionable to play versus Washington.
