Watch Derrick White transform into a Boston-native in new Samuel Adams ad

In the latest Samuel Adams "Your Cousin from Boston" commercial, Derrick White laces up his Timberlands for a day on the town.

Derrick White just got a wicked makeover.

He may not be tearing up the parquet in Timberlands anytime soon, but courtesy of Sam Adams, he’s one of us.

In a new commercial, released Wednesday night, the local beer company teamed up with the Celtics guard to teach him a little about Boston culture.

In the ad, the backwards snapback-wearing “Your Cousin from Boston” character schooled White in what it means to be a true Bostonian.

In his third season with the Celtics, White, the Parker, Colo. native *might* be starting to get a handle on the townie ways.

Grab your Carhartt, we’re going to the connah store!

The first thing Sam Adams did to Boston-ify White? Ditch the Nikes and opt instead for stone-washed jeans, a flannel, a hooded Carhartt jacket, and a pair of Timbs.

“Do I have to wear this?” White asks.

“Absolutely,” the Your Cousin character responds.

How else is D-White supposed to stay warm while he crushes cans and plays scratchies in a parking lot? (Not that Bostonians ever get cold).

Repeat after me

Parking. Garden. Worcester. Billerica.

“Your Cousin from Boston” knows it’s important to not just look the part, but sound the part.

He gave the Celtics star a real lesson in Massachusetts accents, and White fared pretty well. Although he could stand to raise his voice a few decibels to match the volume of a true Bostonian.

To put his new vernacular to the test, the two called up Boston sports radio.

“I got some thoughts about how great Derrick White is,” White says.

Nailed it.
