Payton Pritchard and Derrick White begged Blake Griffin to rejoin the Celtics
The pair said on the Pardon My Take podcast that Griffin was "the best" to play alongside.
Asking basketball players who their favorite favorite teammate is feels a little like asking a pair of parents to pick their favorite child. It’s a tough question, and one that rarely elicits a consensus.
Payton Pritchard and Derrick White, however, had no issue coming up with their answer on the Pardon My Take Podcast on Monday.
When asked by host Dan Katz, a.k.a. Big Cat, how it was to play alongside Blake Griffin, the two Celtics replied in unison.
“The best,” they said.
Griffin, who hasn’t touched an NBA court once this season, was traded to Boston in September 2022. Following the end of his one-year contract, he stepped away from basketball to spend more time with family, per league sources.
“I think the whole team is begging him to come back to Boston,” White confessed.
Pritchard admitted that he texts the former Celtic every few weeks and jokingly asks him to return to the team.
Unsatisfied with the answer that Griffin was “enjoying his life,” away from the game, Katz facetimed Griffin. The last ditch effort to recruit Griffin to the Celtics one last time didn’t work, although he did reveal who he has winning the championship this year.
“They’re my favorites,” Griffin said about the Celtics’ title chances. “I don’t guarantee, I don’t want to put bad juju on them but they are the heavy favorites in my mind.”
