Brad Stevens and the Celtics reportedly reeled off a pair of roster moves just ahead of Thursday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline.

The Celtics acquired wing Jaden Springer from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for a second-round pick, according to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski. In a separate deal, Boston dealt guard Dalano Banton to the Portland Trail Blazers for a “heavily protected second-round pick”, per Wojnarowski

According to Jake Fischer of Yahoo Sports, Boston will receive a top-55 protected 2027 second-round pick in the swap with Portland for Banton, while the Celtics are giving up a 2024 second-round pick to Philly, per Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer.

Springer will serve as additional wing depth for the Celtics this season. Though the 21-year-old swingman may not be a rotational player, he has showcased flashes of defensive fortitude during his limited minutes with the Sixers.

Springer averaged 4.0 points, 1.8 rebounds and 1.1 assists for the 76ers in 32 games (one start) this season.

Banton is heading west after making a limited impact with Boston this season. The 6-foot-7 guard signed a two-year contract with the Celtics last offseason, but averaged 2.3 points and 1.5 rebounds per games over 24 appearances.

With Banton moved, the Celtics have freed up an open spot on their 15-man roster, which could allow them to add another veteran on the buyout market.
