The Maine Celtics announced that guard JD Davison has been suspended for a violation of team rules.

The announcement was listed as part of the team’s injury report for Tuesday night’s game.

The team did not say what the violation was or how long the suspension is. Boston Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla was not asked about it following a 129-124 win against the Pacers on Tuesday night.

Davison, who is averaging 20.6 points, 9.2 assists, and 5.6 rebounds, is having a stellar season for Maine. He was selected to play in the G-League’s “Up Next” game during NBA All-Star weekend next month.

After the Celtics’ win against the Pelicans Monday night, Mazzulla cautioned Davison not to let the accolade get to his head.

“To me, as long as he knows that that’s not what gets him, as far as the Celtics go,” Mazzulla told reporters, according to MassLive. “Like I said, that’s an awesome thing. That should be something that you go for, but I just don’t want guys to think that they need to be defined by that, and so that’s a great individual award for him.”

Davison has appeared in two Celtics games this season, averaging three minutes per contest. Mazzulla said he’s seen improvement in Davison’s game in Maine, but there is still plenty of room to grow.

“And I’ve seen him grow as a player since when he first got here, especially just his approach to the game and his defense, and so that affirmation is great,” Mazzulla said. “But at the end of the day, it’s just the constantly small details, the defense, the reads, the execution, the professionalism — like those things are awarded over a longer period of time. So I hope he enjoys it and understands the process at the same time.”
