Celtics rookie Payton Pritchard plays crucial role in Boston’s offense next to Jayson Tatum
Boston Celtics rookie Payton Pritchard had his first 20-point outing on Monday. On Wednesday, he recorded his first game-winner.
With less than a second remaining in Wednesday’s game against the Miami Heat, Marcus Smart drove to the basket looking to break a 105-105 tie. Smart’s heavily contested layup bounced off, but Pritchard was waiting to put it back off the glass and in. Miami called timeout and attempted a lob to the rim with 0.2 seconds left, but Robert Williams helped break up the pass attempt to Bam Adebayo.
Here’s a look at Pritchard’s put-back, which was his fourth offensive rebound of the game.
Pritchard finished with seven points on 2-for-9 shooting, as well as five rebounds and four assists. The Celtics improved to 6-3, while the Heat fell to 3-4.
