Celtics sideline reporter Abby Chin welcomes baby boy
Silas John Schmidt weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces.
NBC Sports Boston’s Celtics sideline reporter Abby Chin welcomed her second child, Silas John Schmidt, into the world Friday night.
Silas, according to a tweet from Chin’s employer, weighed 6 pounds, 13 ounces. He was due Jan. 15 but arrived a little early.

Chin, who also has a 3-year-old daughter named Mabel, worked Wednesday’s home game against the Pacers before going on maternity leave. This is her sixth year covering the team, and she’s hoping to be back for the playoffs.
“I think when you’re in it every day, different things don’t stand out,” she told Boston.com’s Nicole Yang. “But stepping back from afar, you can look at things a little differently.”
