The Celtics cruised to victory against the Knicks on Tuesday night, while the Dodgers took Game 1 of the World Series.

Here’s a look at a few other stories from the sports world:

Bulls rookie asked Brian Scalabrine permission before he started wearing No. 24: According to Frank Isola of the New York Daily News, seven-foot tall Finnish rookie Lauri Markkanen got Scalabrine’s blessing before he donned his old number.

Adrian Gonzalez the missing “cooler” in Dodgers’ World Series bid: Of the several Red Sox ties to both World Series teams, one of the most interesting is a player who is conspicuously absent. Adrian Gonzalez, who was traded from the Red Sox to the Dodgers in one of the great salary dumbs of MLB history, went on the disabled list on Sept. 28 and hasn’t returned. As Boston Globe columnist Dan Shaughnessy explains, Gonzalez – identified as being unlucky – might be a crucial absence for Los Angeles World Series hopes. (Boston Globe)

Celtics youngsters set record in win vs. Knicks: Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum have both been put into more prominent roles with Gordon Hayward out. So far, so good. The duo have shown signs of a developing chemistry, and that was reflected in the stats in the 110-89 win over the Knicks. Brown and Tatum became the first Celtics pair under the age of 22 to each score at least 20 points in a game. (Celtics)

Chris Berman was apparently the originator of the Doug Flutie dropkick: Before Chris Berman and Bill Belichick sit down for an event for the latter’s foundation on Thursday, Nov. 2, the former ESPN anchor talked about his relationship with the Patriots legend. Among several interesting Belichick stories, Berman mentioned that he might have planted the seed for the Doug Flutie dropkick. (Boston.com)

Sixers’ Fultz had cortisone shot in his right shoulder: Markelle Fultz, who would have potentially been a Celtic had it not been for the high profile trade made with the 76ers before the draft, has been dealing with an ongoing shoulder issue. Initially, Fultz’s agent told ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that the rookie had fluid drained from his shoulder. However, the statement was later revised, explaining that Fultz had in fact had a cortisone shot in the same shoulder and has been “experiencing discomfort.” (ESPN)

Daily highlight: Celebrating his birthday, Jaylen Brown marked the occasion with a thunderous dunk:
