Paul Pierce reportedly trolled Danny Ainge at his final Celtics contract signing

Paul Pierce always knew he wanted to retire wearing green, but the 39-year-old apparently rolled up to the Celtics practice facility on Monday donning black and white.

Firing one last shot at the team’s president of basketball operations Danny Ainge, Pierce decided to sport Brooklyn Nets gear to his final contract signing with the organization that drafted him almost 20 years ago.

“Hey Danny, see this?” he said, via ESPN. “This is where you sent me!”

Pierce is referencing the 2013 trade that sent him from Boston to the Brooklyn Nets. While none of the photographs from the day feature Pierce with the Nets logo, the shorts peaking out from underneath his Celtics practice gear are, in fact, black and white.
