Morning sports update: Jazz player ‘didn’t like’ the way Gordon Hayward handled his exit
All three Red Sox All-Stars shined in Tuesday night’s Midsummer Classic, while the Celtics earned an 88-83 win over the 76ers in Summer League play.
Rudy Gobert not mad at Gordon Hayward, but wishes Jazz exit had been better: “You cannot be mad at somebody for wanting to play for another team,” Gobert told ESPN while watching the Jazz’s summer league team in Las Vegas. “It’s just the way he handled it, that’s the thing I didn’t like. I’m happy for him at the same time. I hope he’s going to be happy over there and get what he’s looking for.” (ESPN)
Jaylen Brown hurt in Summer League win over Sixers: In the opening minutes of the second quarter, forward Jaylen Brown was hit in the left thigh and fell to the floor after jumping to block a shot. Brown went to the bench before re-entering the game a few minutes later. But at halftime the Celtics announced he was ruled out for the rest of the night. (Boston Globe)

Tatum, Celtics 3-0, Summer League set for tournament stage: Toronto is the No. 1 seed, followed by Cleveland, Dallas, Memphis, the Clippers and Boston, as the tournament stage begins. What is Richard Seymour up to these days? Playing in World Series of Poker: Seymour has taken up poker and is currently playing in the World Series of Poker Main Event in Las Vegas. He started his first day with a 50,000 stack and finished with more than double, up to 114,000. In June, the former Patriots defensive end finished 24th at the WSOP’s $1,500 No Limit Hold ‘Em tournament, and won $11,144 in the process. (WEEI)

At 37, Venus Williams into her 10th Wimbledon semifinal: Williams is the only woman to have made the fourth round at each of the past six majors, and now she’s into her third semifinal in that span. She made it that far at Wimbledon last year, too, before losing, and got to the final at the Australian Open in January, when she was beaten by her younger sister, Serena. (Boston Globe)
