Here’s what Brad Stevens had to say about Jayson Tatum’s Summer League play

Jayson Tatum’s spectacular Summer League performance hasn’t gone unnoticed. According to ESPN’s Jeff Goodman, the former Duke forward has been the one to impress fellow players the most during the NBA’s off-season competition.

Though he isn’t coaching Boston’s summer squad, Brad Stevens has been keeping tabs on his first-round draft pick.

Here’s what he told reporters about Tatum on Tuesday night:

He knows how to play. He can put the ball in the basket. He’s had some things that I think have been good eyeopeners for him, too. Because this league is tough. Whether it’s people getting up underneath him, really playing him physically, or figuring out what shot is the best shot to take at that time or just finding his spots — those are all things you learn over time.

I’ve been really encouraged by his defensive play. And that’s something with his length, and ultimately as he builds more strength, that should be a positive.
