Morning sports update: Terry Rozier says he’ll miss having Avery Bradley as a mentor
Chris Sale will get the start for the American League in the All-Star Game Tuesday night, while the Celtics will face off against the 76ers in their Summer League finale.
Amir Johnson said Danny Ainge made his plans clear: “It’s tough because [Avery Bradley] was a guy that I really look up to,” Rozier said. “And he just helped me with not just the things on the court, but off the court. Always telling me, ‘Save your money, bro,’ things like that. He’s just a great mentor. Great guy. But I’m still happy for him.” (Boston Globe)
NBA Off-Season Grades: Best And Worst Teams: “Without Paul George they’re not all that well positioned to contend next year, and without Fultz, the young core still doesn’t have any player who looks like a future superstar. Maybe that will come via next year’s Nets pick? Or the Lakers/Kings pick? Or another trade? Or maybe it’ll change with a promising rookie season from Tatum. The only guarantee is that arguments about the Celtics will continue for at least another few years. This is our new version of the Sixers. Everyone in basketball has an opinion on what the Celtics are doing with their assets, why they’re doing it, and whether it’s stupid or brilliant. I’m just not sure it needed to be this complicated. Grade: C” (Sports Illustrated)
Aron Baynes took less money to join Celtics: “Opting out of a noteworthy $6.5 million contract that would have become guaranteed had Baynes accepted his player option with the Pistons for next season, the 30-year-old Baynes instead tested free agency and took a one-year, $4.3 million deal with Boston.” (WEEI)
Al Horford working to reconstruct courts in Dominican Republic: “In partnership with the Dominican bank, Banco Popular, he is starting a youth basketball initiative in his home country. It will begin this summer with the reconstruction of courts in Horford’s birth city, Puerto Plata, and La Romana, where his father Tito was raised. Over the next two years, at least three other courts will be reconstructed in the Dominican Republic.” (Boston Globe)

2-time champ Nadal loses 15-13 in 5th set at Wimbledon: “The fifth set alone lasted 2 hours, 15 minutes, and Nadal could not manage to complete what would have been his fourth career comeback from two sets down — and first in a decade.” (Boston.com, via AP)
