Morning sports update: Isaiah Thomas thinks drama between Gordon Hayward and Jae Crowder is ‘out the window’
The Red Sox are headed into the All-Star break atop the AL East, while Jayson Tatum continues to shine for the Celtics in Summer League play.
Thomas thinks Hayward/Crowder problems are over: Isaiah Thomas tells A. Sherrod Blakely that the problems between Jae Crowder and Gordon Hayward will not be a problem now that they are teammates: “We’re trying to win a championship. We put all that aside. We’re gonna try to figure faster, I mean sooner rather than later. And then try to compete for a championship. All those other things, I think it goes out the window now that you’re teammates.” (CSNNE)
Crowder was not happy when Celtics fans noticeably cheered for Hayward the last time the Jazz visited the Garden:

Al Horford impressed by Celtics’ offseason additions: “I think we have a chance to be really good,” Horford said. “I think the key for us is to make sure that we keep working, that we keep getting better. Danny Ainge says trading away Avery Bradley wasn’t only about cap space: Ainge told the Globe‘s Adam Himmelsbach on Friday that the Celtics had a glut of players who could play shooting guard, which was Bradley’s position, but not enough to play traditionally bigger positions, like power forward or small forward. Chris Archer flies to All-Star Game with Mookie Betts after giving up home run: Boston Red Sox outfielder Mookie Betts took a pitch from Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Chris Archer for a ride to deep left field to lead off Sunday’s game between the teams with a home run. After the contest, Betts made up for it by having Archer hitch a ride with him on a private plane to Miami for the All-Star Game. (ESPN)
