Butler is thrilled about the reunion of Gordon Hayward and Brad Stevens
When Gordon Hayward was just a junior at Brownsburg High School, Brad Stevens — the men’s basketball head coach at Butler for six seasons — knew he wanted the Indiana native to play for the Bulldogs. Nearly a decade later, Stevens has once again recruited Hayward to join his team.
In a first-person essay published by The Players’ Tribune, Hayward confirmed Tuesday the two would be reuniting in a new city but with the same goal: to win a championship. As the pair looks to resolve their “unfinished business” from Butler’s oh-so-close title run in 2010, they certainly have the support from the community that originally brought them together.
