Morning sports update: Marcus Smart doesn’t keep up with Celtics trade rumors
Two weather delays didn’t stop the Red Sox from earning another win over the Twins, while the Celtics are gearing up for a busy free agency period.
Celtics’ Marcus Smart is not paying attention to trade rumors: “Actually, I really don’t,” he said when asked if he has kept up with the rumors. “I have been working on these camps and working on my game, so I really don’t pay too much attention to those things. And it’s really out of my control, so I’ll leave that to those guys in the front office, Danny [Ainge] and all of those guys. They’ve been doing this for a lot of years and they understand this and know what they’re doing.” (Boston Globe)

Young, Vazquez homer for Red Sox in 9-2 win over Twins: Drew Pomeranz (7-4) had to sit through nearly an hour delay before the game started, then a 76-minute delay between the second and third as a thunderstorm slowly passed over Fenway Park. Despite the interruption, the left-hander held the Twins to an unearned run and four hits, struck out seven and walked none. (Boston.com)

John Farrell reacts to suspension, would like umpires to be held more accountable: “Given what transpired the other night, not surprised by it because there was some accidental contact during the argument so it’s a one-game suspension,” he said. (WEEI)
Bruins talking with free agent Trevor Daley: With NHL free agents now free to speak with other clubs prior the July 1 opening bell, the Bruins have reached out to unrestricted free agent defenseman Trevor Daley and the two sides have had a “positive” dialogue, according to Daley’s agent, Rick Curran. Avery Bradley’s omission from All-Defensive team has people, well, defensive: But one omission sparked quite a bit of outrage among current and former NBA players. Celtics guard Avery Bradley, a first-team choice a year ago, was not a first- or second-team pick this year. He finished with 46 total points in the voting, fifth among guards and 10th overall. Just four guards are honored. (Boston Globe)
No Avery Bradley all-defense?! On the behalf of the players… he deserves it!
