What will the Celtics do with the No. 3 pick?

Debate the answer with Chad Finn and Boston sports fans at The Sports Q.

Welcome to Boston.com’s Sports Q, our daily conversation, initiated by you and moderated by Chad Finn, about a compelling topic in Boston sports. Here’s how it works: You submit questions to Chad through TwitterFacebook, email, his

Friday chat, and any other outlet you prefer. He’ll pick one each day (except for Saturday) to answer, then we’ll take the discussion to the comments. Chad will stop by several times per day to navigate. But you drive the conversation.

Tomorrow is the day. [Note: Today is the day – NBA Draft day. I got this last night.] What will the Celtics do? Will Wyc finally get those fireworks? Or will Danny Ainge play it conservatively and actually make the pick? I think they take Josh Jackson, but might possibly trade him in the next few weeks. Thoughts? – Rush

Well, for me, anything less than acquiring Kristaps Porzingis, Jimmy Butler, Paul George, and Kyrie Irving while retaining Jaylen Brown and Marcus Smart and creating room to sign Blake Griffin and Gordon Hayward will be a crushing disappointment that makes me question Ainge’s competence.

I think I’m being reasonable here. I didn’t even mention Anthony Davis. It’s idiotic to think he’s available now. The Celtics will get him at the trade deadline.

OK, I don’t think all of that will happen. I’d be surprised if they acquired any of those guys tonight, though Butler would be the least surprising, I suppose. But listing all of those names does illustrate just how much is at least somewhat possible tonight. And we haven’t even mentioned the players they might draft. I can’t imagine how the Celtics have mapped out all of the either/or, if-this-happens-then-we-do-that possibilities. They don’t just have Plan A and Plan B. They need to invent a whole new alphabet to consider all of the options fully.

Ultimately, though, I think they just make the pick. They’d be happy with Josh Jackson or Jayson Tatum. I think it ends up being the Dukie, though I could see them taking Jackson if they believe he has huge appeal to the Knicks or another team they may trade with. But right now, I’m not predicting Fourth of July fireworks, but more like the kind you see random Thursdays at Old Orchard Beach — appealing, but hardly spectacular.

Put me down for Tatum at 3. What do you guys think? What will the Celtics do? I’ll see you in the comments.
