The Celtics’ unflinching Game 5 win over Washington in one play

Jaylan Brown made a nice leaping save of a loose ball as it was sailing out of bounds near the Washington bench, and while in the air, he fired a long pass to a streaking Avery Bradley (photo 1B) who slammed home two points to give Boston a 31-16 first quarter lead. Jaylen Brown didn’t score any points for the Celtics in their 123-101 win over the Washington Wizards Wednesday night. He took only three shots.

Brown was far from the star of the game (see Avery Bradley and Al Horford), but the Celtics were plus-17 with the rookie on the court. And plays like this one in the first quarter, when Brown saved a loose ball on the sideline and found a streaking Bradley for a layup, embodied the effort of a Celtics team that controlled Game 5 from start to finish.
