Just when you think Isaiah Thomas can’t get any better, he does
WASHINGTON — His mouth is still visibly swollen, as if he is pouting. Because of a front tooth that was dislodged by an elbow and subsequent extensive dental surgery, Isaiah Thomas can’t really speak with enthusiasm, unless the bright lights are on.
When he is on the court, his world turns into his personal schoolyard, as he toys with opponents as if they were imaginary defenders just part of his childhood dreams of stardom.
A day after scoring 53 points, the second-most by a Celtic in the playoffs, Thomas has reached a new level of popularity. He received dozens of texts from current and former players, and members of his basketball past offering congratulations for leading the Celtics to a victory over the Washington Wizards and a 2-0 series lead as the series shifts to Washington for Game 3 on Thursday.
