Marcus Smart has now been fined for both flipping and flopping.

The Celtics guard will have to fork over $25,000 for “making an obscene gesture on the playing court,” the NBA announced Wednesday afternoon.

Smart appeared to flip off a fan after he missed a three-pointer during the fourth quarter of the Celtics’s Game 2 loss Tuesday night at the TD Garden against the Chicago Bulls.

The No. 1-seed Celtics were down by 14 at the time. They went on to lose the game 111-97, and trail their eighth-seeded opponents 2-0 as the series heads to Chicago.

During a conference call with reporters Wednesday, Celtics coach Brad Stevens was asked about Smart’s gesture and said he couldn’t tell from the video clip he had seen.

“But obviously if he made a gesture, it’s unacceptable,” Stevens said.
