What would it take for the Celtics to get Kristaps Porzingis from the Knicks?

Welcome to Boston.com’s Sports Q, our daily conversation, initiated by you and moderated by Chad Finn, about a compelling topic in Boston sports. Here’s how it works: You submit questions to Chad through TwitterFacebook, email, his

Friday chat, and any other outlet you prefer. He’ll pick one each day (except for Saturday) to answer, then we’ll take the discussion to the comments. Chad will stop by several times per day to navigate. But you drive the conversation.

What would it take for Trader Danny to get Kristaps Porzingis from the Knicks? – Tim D.

For starters it would take him becoming incurably insubordinate for the Knicks to even consider dealing him. Skipping an exit interview with clothing-free emperor Phil Jackson at the end of the season barely qualifies. Heck, that probably should count as character points in Porzingis’s favor. At least he cares.

The Knicks being the Knicks, though, I suppose anything is possible. And I do admit to wondering what it would take when I heard Porzingis took off without even saying goodbye. (Probably wanted to avoid Jackson giving him some pretentious reading assignment for the offseason.)

The hunch here – and this is equal parts conjecture and fantasy – is that the two Nets picks would be just the starting point, and the Knicks would probably ask for Marcus Smart, Jaylen Brown or both. And even then that may not be enough. Porzingis averaged 18.1 points and 7.2 rebounds this season, his second in the league, at age 21. He’s what you hope whomever is chosen with those Nets picks turns out to be.
