Is Celtics’ game against Cavaliers big, or no big deal?

Depending on the viewpoint, the Celtics’ home matchup against the Cavaliers on Wednesday is either Boston’s biggest regular-season game in years or much ado about very little.

On the one hand, it is a chance for the winner to take a powerful step toward securing the No. 1 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, while also making a statement against a possible conference finals opponent.

On the other, the value of the top seed is debatable, particularly as the rest of the playoff field — and potentially dangerous first- and second-round matchups — still need to be sorted out.
