Avery Bradley on Jaylen Brown: “He’s going to be a perfect piece for us”: As a product of the trade that shipped Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett out of town, expectations have been set high for No. 3 overall pick Jaylen Brown. Thus far, his teammates will attest that he has been the player Boston was hoping for. “He’s going to help our team a lot,” veteran shooting guard Avery Bradley said. “He’s a threat to the basket. Report: Frank Wren unlikely to become Red Sox general manager: According to Ken Rosenthal, Red Sox senior vice president of baseball operations Frank Wren is not expected to become the team’s next general manager, and he is happy in his current role. Lewis had injured his ACL last season, and needed a second surgery this August, and Jackson also suffered a knee injury. (WEEI)

Tom Tippett, Red Sox statistical analyst, is leaving organization: Peter Gammons has reported that senior baseball analyst Tom Tippett is the latest executive to leave the Red Sox front office. Gammons refers to Tippett as the team’s “director of analytics” and the departure is a bit shocking after the team just lost general manager Mike Hazen to the Diamondbacks. The team chose to bring in Dave Dombrowski to replace analytics minded Ben Cherington last summer. (WEEI)

Avery Bradley voted second best perimeter defender by NBA GM’s: Avery Bradley earned some recognition for his ball-stopping ability last season in being named a First-Team All-NBA defender. He was recognized by contemporaries once more last night, when the annual NBA general manager survey revealed that he was considered to be the second best perimeter defender in the league.
