David Ortiz, Julian Edelman join Tom Brady in Kevin Durant recruitment effort
Meanwhile, Red Sox pitcher Joe Kelly predicted a return to Oklahoma City for the NBA star.
It appears Tom Brady isn’t the only Boston athlete who wants to see Kevin Durant in Celtics green.
After the Patriots quarterback accompanied the Celtics contingent to their pitch meeting with Durant in the Hamptons on Saturday, Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz tweeted at the free-agent forward that he was sorry he couldn’t make it, too.
Yo @KDTrey5 sorry I couldn’t make the meeting today but Brady will tell u they don’t call Boston the City of Champions for nothing 🏆🏆🏆

One of Brady’s favorite targets, wide receiver Julian Edelman, joined in Sunday with a tweet of his own.
From the fans, to the history, to the amazing city itself, Boston is best place to play hands down @kdtrey5 🍀35🍀 pic.twitter.com/jZO65KUsiS

Instead of persuading, Red Sox pitcher Joe Kelly made a prediction Sunday that Durant would return to the Oklahoma City Thunder.

As of late Sunday afternoon, Durant had yet to announce where he’ll sign, as he continued to meet with teams. ESPN’s Chris Broussard, citing league sources, reported Sunday afternoon that the seven-time All-Star and former MVP will decide on Monday.
