Tom Brady joins Celtics for Kevin Durant pitch meeting

Kevin Durant is reportedly a 'big fan' of the Patriots quarterback

The Celtics got a big assist from one of New England’s biggest stars on Saturday in their attempt to lure free agent forward Kevin Durant to Boston.

In a picture posted on social media, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady is seen accompanying team president of basketball operations Danny Ainge and co-owner Steve Pagliuca in the Hamptons ahead of Boston’s afternoon pitch to Durant.

Kelly Olynyk and Marcus Smart are also with the group in the picture as part of the Celtics’ contingent.

Celtics forward Jae Crowder was also part of the recruitment crew.

Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe confirmed Brady’s presence at the meeting via a league source, who also referred to Brady as Durant’s favorite athlete.

A quick look at Durant’s Twitter feed shows the 27-year-old is a big fan of the four-time Super Bowl champion.

The Celtics are one of six teams that are getting the chance to meet with Durant this weekend in hopes of landing the NBA’s top free agent. The Thunder, Warriors, Clippers and Spurs have reportedly already wrapped up meetings with the All-Star over the past three days. The Miami Heat plan to meet with Durant on Sunday before the forward makes a final decision about his future in the coming days.
