The best No. 3 draft picks in NBA history

As far sweet college nicknames go, Adam Morrison lucked out. “The Stache” enjoyed a productive college career at Gonzaga, building a resume worthy of a high grade entering the 2006 NBA draft. Morrison was selected third overall by the Charlotte Bobcats, but that would prove to be his last major highlight in NBA, as his talent never quite translated to the NBA level; in his four seasons split between the Lakers and Bobcats, he started 28 total games while averaging  7.5 points and 2.1 rebounds.

The third spot has produced duds like Morrison and Chris Washburn and studs like Michael Jordan, Pau Gasol, and Bob Cousy. Thursday, barring a trade, the Celtics will select third overall for the sixth time in franchise history. One of those picks was used on Kevin McHale, one on Bulbs Ehlers. The Celtics aim for the former.
