Last month, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reported that Kris Dunn’s agents didn’t want the 22-year-old to go to a team that has a young, established point guard such as Isaiah Thomas.

“I think that’s just a rumor going around,” Dunn told the Boston Globe in a telephone interview on Thursday. “That never came out of my mouth, that I didn’t want to play for any team.”

The Globe asked Dunn about the Celtics specifically.

“I mean it would be unbelievable to be selected by the Celtics,” he said. “My dream is just to get drafted, and that I have a chance to be a top-five player, it’s a blessing.”

Dunn also spoke about his respect for the Celtics’ defensive mentality and progress that the young team has made over the last couple seasons under head coach Brad Stevens.

“They have great players,” he said. “You definitely can tell they’re defense-oriented. I don’t know Marcus Smart that well, but I played with Marcus Smart at multiple things, AAU at the time, and high school in the McDonald’s All-American game. And Isaiah Thomas was an All-Star this year. You can see they’re on the rise and close to something special. I’m gonna be anxious to see what they do next year.”
