Celtics’ Isaiah Thomas is wishing for his chance to step up for USA Basketball
Isaiah Thomas is ready. He’s willing. More than that, the Celtics’ point guard is wishing.
As NBA stars keep withdrawing from the U.S. Olympic basketball team for various reasons, Thomas took to Twitter on Friday to express interest in representing his country. On the same day that Thomas shared his eagerness, Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder and James Harden of the Houston Rockets joined the list of Team USA veterans who won’t be making the trip to Rio for the 2016 Olympics.

The U.S. will bring a 12-member roster to Rio, and depth at point guard could be an issue. Chris Paul of the Los Angeles Clippers, Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors and John Wall of the Washington Wizards are all unavailable.
