The ’86 Celtics victory parade: Thirty years later
On June 8, 1986, the Boston Celtics secured the franchise’s 16th NBA championship. The C’s defeated the Akeem Olajuwon-led Houston Rockets in six games, Larry Bird was awarded the Finals MVP, and the Boston Garden saw its final championship banner hung from its rafters before its 1998 demolition.
Two days later, the Celtics took to the streets, and Boston experienced its last championship parade of the 20th century. Here are some snapshots from the day’s festivities
