Boston was interested in Carmelo Anthony, but Anthony wasn’t interested in Boston.

The Celtics expressed interest in trading for Knicks forward Carmelo Anthony at the NBA trade deadline, sources told ESPN.com. Anthony, however, did not have interest in leaving New York for Boston.

The Knicks were subject of some trade speculation at the deadline, as they are nearly eliminated from the playoffs.

During the 2015-16 season, Anthony has averaged 25 points, 8 rebounds, and 4.2 assists in 35 minutes.

The Celtics were reportedly active at the trade deadline, even though no trade came to fruition. They were reportedly interested in the Clippers’ Blake Griffin, the Hawks’ Al Horford, the Rockets’ Dwight Howard, and the 76ers’ Jahlil Okafor.
