The former Celtic’s fast food joint based in South Miami, Grown, is expected to open in March, according to The Miami Herald.

Shannon, who created the show The Pre-Game Meal on SportsNet, partnered with a team of nutrition experts to conceptualize the restaurant and its menu, according to the Herald.

The couple said they were inspired to open Grown because of their son, Walker, who has Type 1 diabetes, the Herald reported.
“I had an aha moment where I realized I couldn’t sit around helpless waiting for someone else to create a fast-food option that met our family’s dietary needs,’’ Shannon told the Herald, “and as we did our research it became obvious that this wasn’t a struggle unique to us, families everywhere are looking for convenience without compromise.’’

According to the Herald, the 1,900-square-foot space will have a rooftop garden where local farmers will grow vegetables, greens, and herbs for the restaurant.
Allen played five seasons with the Celtics, helping the team win a title in 2008. He signed with the Miami Heat in 2012.
