It’s official. David Lee is no longer playing for the Boston Celtics, officially.

The Celtics waived the veteran forward on Friday, a day after the NBA’s trade deadline.

“We thank David for his contributions to our organization and wish him nothing but the best in the future,’’ Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge said.

Citing an unnamed league source, Adam Himmelsbach of The Boston Globe reported that Lee and the Celtics agreed on a buyout of his $15.5 million contract.

Lee, 32, arrived in Boston via trade with the Golden State Warrors in July 2015 in exchange for forward Gerald Wallace and guard Chris Babb.

In 30 games with the Celtics during the 2015-2016 season, Lee averaged 7.1 points, 4.3 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 15.7 minutes per game.

Citing unnamed league sources, The Vertical’s Shams Charania reported that the Dallas Mavericks are “significant frontrunners’’ to land Lee after his exit from Boston.
