Report: Danny Ainge being ‘quietly aggressive’
With the NBA trade deadline looming later next month, Celtics president of basketball operations Danny Ainge is being “quietly aggressive,’’ according to ESPN’s Marc Stein.
According to the report, Ainge is in search for a “splashy move,’’ looking for that superstar to get the team over the hump. Ainge hasn’t been afraid to make the bold move in Februrary, trading for recently announced All-Star Isaiah Thomas in the final minutes of the trade deadline a year ago.
However, with Sacramento adament that they aren’t shopping DeMarcus Cousins and Cavaliers general manager David Griffin saying that he doens’t plan on moving Kevin Love in the near future, the target Ainge is looking for just might not be out there quite yet, according to the report.
At 26-21, Boston sits fifth in a crowded Eastern Conference that has just a 2.5-game difference between third and eighth place.
