According to the report, Griffin and the equipment staffer got into an argument while they were in a restaurant during the Clippers’ trip to Toronto. Griffin hit the man, who then left the restaurant, and Griffin hit him again after following him outside.
Both were sent home after the altercation, and the staffer’s face was injured, according to the report.
Griffin suffered a suspected fracture in his hand during the fight and is expected to be out of play for “a matter of weeks, as opposed to days.’’
Clippers coach Doc Rivers said at practice Tuesday that the team would issue a statement before their game against the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday night.
Griffin originally hoped to return during the current road trip from a quadriceps injury after being out of the lineup since Dec. 26. The Clippers were 11-3 during that span.
