R.J. Hunter has 16,200 Twitter followers and 35,100 Instagram followers who are going to have less activity on their feeds.

“Instagram, Snapchat, Twitter. I’m done with it,’’ the Celtics guard told MassLive.com before Wednesday’s loss to the Pacers. “I’m locked in.’’

The rookie shot 2 of 5 against Indiana, including a three-pointer. He finished the night with five points, two rebounds, and an assist in 20 minutes.

“When you are hot, Twitter is on you. When you are down, Twitter is killing you,’’ Hunter said. “I need balance in my life and that’s not it. So I’m off of it.’’

It’s not the first time the shooter has sworn off social media — he did the same thing as a junior at Georgia State.

Can you blame him?

The ups and downs of an NBA season — particularly for the Celtics’ rookie who has Boston buzzing with hype — are magnified on social media.

Haters are going to hate — but Hunter’s not going to read it. Smart man.
